HYD-MECH OPENS FACILITY IN CONWAY

HYD-MECH Group Limited of Ontario, Canada, opened a new manufacturing facility in Conway today. The plant currently employs four people and expects to employ 35 within the next two years.
HYD-MECH will occupy 21,000 square feet of the Covington Commercial Complex on Robins Street. The 400,000-square-foot complex is the former Carrier Refrigeration facility, which has been renovated and converted into multi-tenant space.
"This is good news for the Conway area," said Gov. Mike Huckabee. "It adds to the growing number of companies that have opened facilities in Arkansas this year and continues the tremendous growth in Faulkner County."
HYD-MECH was founded in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, in 1978. Since then, the company has grown rapidly to become a world leader in metal cut-off bandsaw technology. HYD-MECH has an integrated network of dealers in 20 countries.
"Conway was an ideal community in which to locate our facility," said Stephen Stoppenbrink, HYD-MECH's president and CEO. "We look forward to doing business in Arkansas. The support received from the local community up to the Governor's office has been fantastic."
The Conway location is HYD-MECH's only U. S. plant. In addition to its Ontario headquarters, the company has plants in Italy and China.

"HYD-MECH's announcement today gives further proof of Conway's strength as a manufacturing community," said Conway Mayor Tab Townsell. "This international company could have chosen a variety of locations to operate in the United States, but Conway was the best fit for them."
Full production is scheduled to begin later this month.
