BOLTZ STEEL FURNITURE MOVES HEADQUARTERS TO CONWAY
December 2, 2002
Conway, AR — With the opening of a 10,000-square-foot headquarters building at 520 Equity Avenue in Conway, Boltz Steel Furniture will officially become an Arkansas-based company beginning January 1, 2003. The 5-year-old firm has previously been located in Carlsbad, Calif., about 20 miles north of San Diego.
"Conway was a logical place for us to relocate," said Jeff White, president. "Not only is it situated near our main supplier, but the city offers us all types of other advantages for being here. First, there's plenty of affordable housing. Second, Conway is an easy commute from Little Rock. Third, with three universities / colleges in town, we'll have a nicely educated pool of potential employees right here."
Boltz, with annual sales of $3 million, designs and markets a unique line of home theater and lifestyle furniture through its web site www.boltz.com, as well as through retail partners across the U.S. Its products are manufactured in Conway.
"Our relocation to Arkansas from California may be a microcosm of what you'll see on a much bigger scale in the future," White said. "I call our move common sense ABCs (Arkansas Beats California) of doing business. Here in Conway, you have a small-town atmosphere with all the advantages of a bigger city, yet without many of the headaches. Traffic is light-duty, people are ultra-friendly, and our overall cost of doing business is much less than that of the West Coast. We're looking forward to a prosperous future here in Arkansas."
"The professionals at Boltz have discovered the many advantages of doing business in Arkansas," said Gov. Mike Huckabee. "I hope they'll tell others what a great place Arkansas is to live, work and succeed. We're thrilled to have this progressive company find a home here and are confident they'll be pleased with the move."
"We are excited to see Boltz move their corporate offices to our community," said Bill Hegeman, president of the Conway Development Corporation. "We believe that Conway will provide the type of environment they need to grow their company substantially. We have enjoyed working with them on their transition."
"To have a corporate headquarters operation relocate to Conway is a win for the entire Central Arkansas area," said Conway Mayor Tab Townsell. "We welcome Boltz to our community and look forward to watching them grow."
Jim Pickens, director of the Arkansas Department of Economic Development, said, "Arkansas really has a lot to offer: A great business climate, an excellent workforce, and an easy commute are just a few of the attractions. We're very glad that Boltz will join the other fine corporate citizens of our state."
