CONWAY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION CO-SPONSORS INTERNATIONAL TRADE SEMINAR

Conway, AR — The directors from all four of Arkansas’ International Business Offices visited the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce January 23 for the first of four International Trade Seminars held throughout Arkansas. The directors reviewed the economic environment of their respective regions, discussed current issues relating to international trade, and explained the services they provide to Arkansas companies.
Several Conway businesses interested in marketing their products to Europe, Asia or Latin America were in attendance. Sponsors of the seminar were the Conway Development Corporation, Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, Arkansas Department of Economic Development (ADED), and the US Department of Commerce.
In attendance were Yutaka "Taka" Kajita - director of the Japan Office, Boone Tan - director of the ASEAN Office, John Leonard - director of the Latin America Office, and Sybil Magee - director of the Europe Office.
"The importance of international trade continues to grow in Arkansas as the world seems to get smaller," said Jim Pickens, ADED director. "Our business development program and our other interested partners in the import and export business can provide invaluable assistance for Arkansas businesses that are looking for new markets. These seminars will help companies to learn more about international opportunities and resources available to them."
Bill Hegeman, President of Conway Development Corporation (CDC) said, "We were extremely pleased with the number of Conway companies that attended the seminar. The Conway Development Corporation is the City of Conway’s economic development entity. Founded in 1959, the CDC has developed hundreds of acres of business and industrial property in the city and has helped create thousands of jobs since its inception.
